Lighting the Path – Why We Chose to Empower Through Education & Skills
In a village in India, a young girl named Asha used to spend her days working in the fields with her parents. She had dreams – of becoming a teacher, of standing in front of a blackboard rather than behind a plough. But school was a luxury her family couldn’t afford. Her parents, never having gone to school themselves, thought this was simply the way life had to be.
Then came Jag Kalyan sewa Sanstha.
When our team reached her village, we saw more than poverty. We saw potential – in Asha’s eyes and in hundreds like her. Bright minds, eager to learn, trapped in the cycle of illiteracy and unemployment.
That’s when we asked ourselves:
What if education could break this cycle? What if skills could empower lives?
So we began our mission — not just to teach, but to transform.
We started a learning centre.
Trained women in stitching and tailoring.
Offered digital literacy and basic computer courses to the youth.
Today, Asha goes to school with pride. Her mother earns from tailoring work. Her father now believes his daughter can change not just her life — but his too.
And she has.
